Holton tr180 vs. tr181 question
I notice the difference in the neck pipe on a 180 vs. a 181. 180= straight out of the valve. 181= z-bend out of the valve. So my question is, are the main tuning slides different widths??? And if so, how does each tuning slide compare with the 185/169 widths???

Re: Holton tr180 vs. tr181 question
All Holton bass models, 169, 185, 180, 269, 181, 182 etc have nominally the same size tuning slides....Holton build variability means that some tuning slides would need adjustment to fit...but they are the same size. Back bow profiles do vary.

Fossil(Chris) is correct. The fact that the Holton TR 180 is a dependent setup and the 181 is independent probably has something to do with the overall design.Backbone wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 6:32 pm I notice the difference in the neck pipe on a 180 vs. a 181. 180= straight out of the valve. 181= z-bend out of the valve. Thanks for this. Could you explain the back bow profiles for me? I imagine that it would affect the blow/sound.
