1920's Conn 4H Counterweight

Post by dapezar »

I'm looking for a Conn counterweight for my Conn 4H made in 1922.
If you have one to sell or you know somebody who has one, please let me know.

Kind Regards.

David.

The cheapest and fastest thing to do might to to buy one that is attached to a rough old trombone on Ebay. A couple of years ago I was watching one a seller wanted $250 for on Ebay. I just paid less for one that happened to be attached to a 40H.

If you don't need it to be period-correct, later Conn counterweights are more common. Or new Edwards/DEG weights aren't labeled.

1922 would be the "cursive writing" era...very hard to find. More common are the "choice of the artists" era ones, with marching men, they go for about $50. I think they started using those in the 30s so it would still be old, just not quite so old. I use one on a 20s 78h.

I have a silver plated 1933 24H with the cursive counterweight. I'm not interested in selling the counterweight separately, but I will sell the complete horn cheap enough to make it worth your while. The bell section with gold wash inner flare is in great shape. The slide is pretty rough but potentially repairable.

Contact me at the email address in my profile if you're interested.
