Excerpt Editions
I’m taking an audition soon which asks for specific excerpt editions.
-la gazza ladra (McAlister Ed.)
-Mozart Kyrie (sussmayr Ed.)
- Bruckner 4. (1880 haas Ed.)
I cannot for the life of me find specific editions. The Essential 100 book doesn’t specify, nothing on IMSLP, online research doesn’t produce anything. Can anyone help me?

Contact the Audition committee and ask them.

Re: Excerpt Editions
Th audition letter/invitation specifically says the committee won’t provide anything besides copyright protected material, unfortunately.

Re: Excerpt Editions
I found the Bruckner on IMSLP.
I found the Mozart on IMSLP, but only the score -- you'll have to copy out your part.
The IMSLP versions of the Rossini did not include anything by McAllister.
So 1 1/2 of 3.

Re: Excerpt Editions
I see those now after looking a bit more carefully. The Rossini is the one which will be the most noticeable if I don’t have the correct edition. I’ve seen a couple different ones over the years, but it’s never been specified which is which. I know one was written for one trombone and you play more or less continuously, and another version adjusts the voicing just slightly, and another has giant gaps in the second excerpt.

UPDATE:
I found an audition list online for a North Carolina Symphony bass bone audition and it specifically lists and provides the McAlister edition. It looks exactly like the one-trombone version I know.

Re: Excerpt Editions
This audition excerpt scavenger hunt situation has always really irritated me. The union should lock this problem down.

Re: Excerpt Editions
Also, "Sussmayr" edition is absolutely meaningless. Sussmayr made a completion of the Requiem, not an edition. There are several different editions of the "Sussmayr version".
Yeah I always hate that. The orchestra ought to provide the actual excerpts they want.
