Now, I graduated in 1978 and a lot has changed in the music scene over these 45 years, but WTH is "Bloated"?

The contest entry form said "Void where prohibited", so I peed on the Captain's desk.

Fill up your stomach with air 'til you feel constipated then play like you're trying to hold in a fart.

Brought this term up with my professional trumpet playing buddy. He said that’s usually reserved for trumpet music; it would be referring to their egos.

I think it has something to do with the open bar.
I mean, you do have a fully stocked open bar at each session per the AFM bylaws, right? ;)

Just recently I had a score from a Danish arranger, where the drummer was supposed to "go to whiskers"......

I guess that when these unusual and/or totally gibberish instructions show up, they most often are the result of "false friends"-interpretations and translations.

Uh ... "whiskers" are a specific type of nylon brush. Regal Tip (an American company, by the way)–among others-specifically call their version of said brush whiskers.

Yeah, I've since learned from a drummer that "whiskers" really is a legit term, but I nevertheless laugh when I see it.

Now; what I really dislike about that picture, is the beamed eigth-notes with rests within the beam. The song isn't fast in this example, but at higher tempos such writing makes for sight reading problems. If I held a note writing class, I'd fail the student doing that.

I'd much prefer, and recommend, single 8ths and ditto rests, to better separate the beats.
