Concert Band - Mr. Grinch arrangement

Post by Mamaposaune »

I just want to put in a plug for my friend, colleague and sectionmate Jeff Lowden (son of famed arranger Bob Lowden) for his arrangement of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" for concert band which is available on his webpage. Our wind ensemble is playing it for the 2nd year, it was an audience hit last year and a fun piece for the group.
There are parts for 2 male vocalists, but they are optional and it works fine as an instrumental-only.
Jeff has begun self-publishing under "Jeffry Lowden Sheet Music."
He is a fine trombonist, singer, and retired music educator, and our wind ensemble has really enjoyed playing his arrangements!

I'm looking at the partial score over on Sheet Music Plus. It looks like it would be rather empty without the vocal parts.

We have done it with vocals, but (as far as I can tell) the melody is always doubled within the band. Jeff told our conductor it will work with or without vocals.

I notice that your part indicates that it's a new version as of 11/11/2024; I doubt if Sheet Music Plus would have that one yet. Their partial score only goes up to measure 30; the vocals are doubled part of the time (measures 2-12 and 27-30) but not doubled elsewhere (bars 15-25).

Don't believe me (no one ever does)? Look for yourself.
