Hello friends,
In 2018, I wrote an article on my blog that informed readers that the composer of Book 1, No. 1 in Joannès Rochut's "Melodious Etudes" was not Marco Bordogni. Nor was it Rochut himself, as it often assumed. It was written by Louis Allard and Henri Couillaud, professors at the Paris Conservatoire, and published by them in 1927, a year before Rochut's books appeared. Rochut studied with Allard at the Conservatoire.
In the course of my research for an article I have written about Joannès Rochut that will appear in the January 2025 International Trombone Association Journal (the article will be about 80 pages long - there is much more to Rochut than Bordogni. . .), I learned that Bordogni did not write the etude in Rochut's Book 2, No. 73, either.
I've revised my earlier article about Rochut No. 1 with information about both of these etudes, and I also include a free PDF copy of the two etudes by Bordogni that are missing in Rochut's book. Some editors, like Benny Sluchin, David Schwartz, Michael Mulcahy, and Gary Spolding, include a missing etude by Bordogni in place of Rochut's No. 1, but only Schwartz and Spolding include Bordogni's etude in place of Rochut's No. 73. If this interests you, have a look at my blog article here; there will be more about all of this in my forthcoming article about Rochut that will appear in the ITA Journal):
