Windy City Mutes?

Post by pgtrombone »

Hi all, I’ve been looking at buying a new adjustable cup mute for my large tenor and after looking at the obvious Jo Ral and Wick options, saw Windy City. Does anyone have experience with these? Good or bad? They seem to be at a good price point, but I’m a bit skeptical!

They work fine. Are they materially better than the other brands? No. Are they materially worse? No. If you have a very snooty section that listens with their eyes you may get complaints about blending. If they were to listen with their ears, they would shut up.

Thanks for that response BGuttman. Yeah, I was just worried about response quality that’s all!

I use a Windy City Bass Trombone Straight mute. Works and sounds great. a little heavier than a Joral or tom Crown but sounds just fine.
