Concerning teaching new students, I'm thinking of making it a standard practice for myself to give them (and parents, if applicable) the document linked on this page. Feedback is always welcome - I'm especially interested in what could be removed or added.

Re: Lesson Requirements
Andrew,
Hard to argue with your "Lesson Requirements" - these are common sense by now to most of us.
It appears that you are teaching lots of young trombonists. One important "maintenance" item that I would add for them is:
• Always brush your teeth after eating and before putting the trombone up to your lips.
It's really disgusting to fill your trombone (and perhaps gum up a rotary valve) with food debris!

That's a good one! I'm adding it.

When I click on the link I get this...
Well this is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.

Re: Lesson Requirements
It works for me, on both Chrome and IE. Maybe you have a setting that is blocking something?

Re: Lesson Requirements
Although other entries in your blog appear to appear normally, this one does not.
Even if I click on the link to it in the "recent Posts" column on the right I still get the "404 not found" deal.
I am using Firefox. I also tested in Chrome and it doesn't load there either.

Re: Lesson Requirements
Since you asked -
(I think) 'Lesson Requirements' should be short and sweet - this reads more like 'what every trombone student should know.' Give them your recommendations, but make the 'Requirements' something simpler to remember and measurable: Practice, Keep your instrument in good shape, Perform whenever possible, and Listen to music. You can review their progress in these 4 areas at each lesson and use it as a basis for feedback to the parents when needed.
I would at least add Alessi, Christopher Bill and Maniacal 4 to your list - that's what they're seeing/hearing on YouTube.
Good luck and let us know how it works for you.
