Need horn with special caveats recommendations
I will be looking for a Trombone but I need it to be as light as possible, without it's being too bright or thin. I'm a rank beginner so some elements like tone are not as crucial as I'm lucky just to be playing rudimentary stuff.
Because of my stroke history, I need it to be as light as possible. Light and medium or small bore due to breath capabilities (or lack thereof).
As reference, I have no aspirations of symphonic playing and community band section playing is the height of my "legit" goals. I'm much more interested in big band and pop playing. I particularly am drawn to the sounds of James Pankow of Chicago (Yamaha YSL-691) and Nils Lindgren (some sort of Yamaha).
What would be your recommendation? Budget under $600.00. Thanks.

As someone may have said before: a Yamaha YSL-354.

You may want to consider getting an Ergobone. I had an associate with similar problems and he was using one on a student horn.

Ergobone would be a great idea with any trombone you get.

The Yamaha 354 isn't extremely light but you can probably find one for less than $200, then put a bit more into repairs if needed and you're well under budget. And if you need to sell it, it will always be worth what you paid, no depreciation.

Olds Featherweight. They were made to be light, with even the slide inners, braces, and bell section made in ways that shaved weight while still maintaing good, dense tone. They're rare, but they're found on eBay now and then.

Pbone, if weight is all you care about.

An aside - somebody asked me what mouthpiece I was using. A Bach 6-1/2 AL.
