What kind of scams are you talking about?
Most scammers tended to want to post lists of junk for sale, most of which was completely unrelated to trombone and/or music. And we'll probably be watching you, too

The question is good.
I don't see any search box options in the forum.

I've been searching for a group to share ideas and expand my knowledge of the trombone, and I'm pleased to have finally found one.

The best way is to go to google and type in Site:trombonechat.com followed by a space and then whatever you want to search for.
I can't find the "Search" field!

I want to be able to search for a particular topic in the forums but cannot find a search field anywhere on any page / any screen! On the "F A Q" page, it says: "How can I search a forum or forums?
Enter a search term in the search box located on the index, forum or topic pages. Advanced search can be accessed by clicking the “Advance Search” link which is available on all pages on the forum. How to access the search may depend on the style used." but I do not have a "search box" on any index, forum, or topic page or see any option for an "Advanced Search" link. Do only certain level of memberships have these options?

I was curious about this as well, but also assumed I needed to wait until approved.
I agree about adding "trombone chat" to a google search- it does seem to work quite well (not to mention that google was how I found this forum to begin with).

I wish I had seen this question before I posted it somewhere else. If I could have searched for the answer I would have done that ... but .... no search box. Haha. Hopefully, I'll have one after this post is (hopefully) approved.

This is unfortunately the best answer. phpbb has a lot going for it but turns out search is actually a pretty complex problem and Google has billions upon billions of dollars to throw at putting stuff you want to see in front of your eyeballs
