I just ordered a couple of tubs of Superslick trombone slide cream from Amazon. One of them had a lid that was loose, some cream on the outside, and the cream on the inside wasn't level (looked like it was "slopped" in). It also smelled like my wife's hand cream. Amazon's great about returning stuff, but I wondered if anyone else had something similar happen? It's not possible that Superslick use different creams with different smells? (I remember "in the old days" we used to use Oil of Olay instead of trombotine to save a bit of money).

Which Oil of Olay product did you use?  I never found one that worked as a slide lube.  I've used Pond's, but something about it changed in the 1970s  and it doesn't work as well as it used to (but it still does work).

Trombotine smells like Pond's Cold Cream, and sometimes I get a similar smell from Superslick.  My guess is that the leaking Superslick got VERY hot and ran out of the tub.  It may have separated as well.
