NYC next week (Oct.23-26)

Hi all,

I'll be up in New York next week (Monday through Thurs), wondering if anyone had any leads on anyone interesting playing around town?
It's been a few years, I'm planning on hitting up the usual spots, (a couple of the bartenders at Smalls probably still recognize me),any and all suggestions are appreciated!
Also, any interesting instrument shops in town these days? The odds are next to (but never quite) zero that I'd buy anything, but it's always fun to window shop.

As far as big bands go...

Vanguard Jazz Orchestra @ The Village Vanguard on Monday
Mingus Big Band @ Drom on Monday
Rob Edwards (fantastic trombonist) Big Band on Tuesday @ Swing 46
Birdland Big Band @ Birdland on Friday (early show)

Fred Hersch is also at the Vanguard all next week with with Miguel Zenon and a fantastic rhythm section.

J Landress Brass is on 32nd street and has a great collection of trombones and mouthpieces.

Yeah! For small group stuff: Rob Edwards is also at Smalls tonight, 10:30pm and midnight. Jacob Melsha is at Public Records Wednesday. Altin Sencalar is at Brush Culture and Steve Davis is at Smoke on the Thursday.
