Gold vs yellow tuning slide

How much of a difference does tuning slide material make? I’m pairing a shires yellow bell with yellow TS right now, but it’s just a tad to free blowing - how much of a difference would a gold TS make?

What Shires bell with what Shires tuning slide? Bass? Tenor?

My experience on my early Steve Shires 2Y yellow bell is that the yellow TS responds a little quicker and the overall tone breaks up a bit sooner at louder dynamics. The gold TS mellows out articulation and holds together better at louder volumes.
