Koichiro Yamamoto Shires setup?
Look like he is using a rotax valve now? It looks bigger than the alessi valve. Does anyone know what setup he is using now?

Where did you see pictures of him with his trombone posted?

Definitely looks like the rotax valve cap, and the unlacquered valve section makes it seem like a custom job for the horn. He was using the Shires Alessi valve previously

I've always wondered just how different the "Alessi" rotary valve is from the usual rotary valve shires uses. But yeah, that definitely looks like a Rotax valve. Maybe he's just trying it out, or maybe it's permanent.

Given the somewhat recent revelations about the differences between what is provided by the Eastman factory and what parts come from the Shires factory, I'm wondering what the differences - if any - there are between the Q Alessi and the Alessi Alessi. Or really any of their traditional rotary offerings.tbonesullivan wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 7:11 am I've always wondered just how different the "Alessi" rotary valve is from the usual rotary valve shires uses. Found it on his twitter. I think the left one is alessi valve since it has the yellow brass brace and f tuning slide with brace.
the middle one looks similar to alessi? But with nickel silver brace and yellow brass f tuning slide without brace.
The right one is the one I think looks like the rotax. It’s bigger than the others.

Last time I looked the Q rotors were standard rotors and the Shires rotors were lightened/vented similarly a Greenhoe, but with only a single removable bearing plate. As far as I am aware they are still making rotors and casings in MA.Matt K wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 7:24 am Given the somewhat recent revelations about the differences between what is provided by the Eastman factory and what parts come from the Shires factory, I'm wondering what the differences - if any - there are between the Q Alessi and the Alessi Alessi.
