I'm sure a lot of you guys have seen this guy on YouTube already. He's a band director doing a series reviewing a ton of different instruments (particularly the cheapest ones you can find out there).

I found this one interesting... Not *quite* a trombone as it uses a smaller mouthpiece and receiver, probably closer bore to a bass trumpet or something. Ridiculously decent for how unrealistically cheap it is... And he's a decent enough player to actually give a reasonable representation of how it sounds and plays.
It's the kind of thing I want to buy just to fart around on until it inevitably falls apart in a year

That was interesting. I don't need one, I already have an unplayable valve trombone. (nothing wrong with the Getzen, it's just I never found a way to hold it without getting carpal tunnel the first five minutes.)

But if it's hard to play in tune, AND the partials don't line up well, doesn't that imply it slots really tightly? That could be an asset if you had a way to adjust tuning on the fly. I looked at the Amazon photos and didn't see an easy way to add a kicker.

But while on Amazon, I saw another trombone accessory I didn't know existed, a reflector to let you hear your sound better. I wonder if that might be useful. A little pricey at $86 USD though.

The mouthpiece he mentions looks exactly like a 125 year old mouthpiece I have (unbranded) which is 12C sized or smaller. Shank is smaller than a standard.

I'll bet the bore through the valves is pretty small, which would explain how stuffy it feels. It will play better when he figures out how to adjust his breath pressure to what the instrument will take.
