Good Beginner to Intermediate Duets?

Post by Kbiggs »

There’s a recent post asking about duets for high school and college students. I teach a lot of beginning and intermediate student duets. While I use the Voxman/Rubank duets a lot, it’s nice to have a variety.

What other duet books or pieces do you use for beginning to intermediate students?

If you are looking for any good beginner or intermediate pieces, I think you should look at some things that are on JWPepper, as they have lots to offer

"Duets For All" by Albert Stoutamire and Kenneth Henderson is one of my favorite intermediate duet books.

The original arbans book has good duets. The Alessi version kept them in.

Thanks everyone!

The qPress books are appealing. I teach a variety of instruments, so it will be nice to have flexible instrumentation. I’d forgotten about the Arban’s duets. The first few pages look good for my first year trumpet students.*

*I have not gone to the dark (bright?) side. I use a bass trumpet. You don’t want to hear me “play” a standard B-flat trumpet.
