Sorting through some stuff at home and cane across this. Does anyone know the maker or other details?

Looks vaguely like a very cheap plastic mute I had in the 1970s.

Can't remember the make.

It’s a Ray Parkins mute. I know they still make them for trumpets. Is the mute in your pic for trombone? How does it play?

Thanks for the ID. Its a trombone mute for sure. I've not played it in a show Spent a few minutes on it in a medium bore horn. Seems fine for mid and upper ranges with out affecting tuning - even sound in various dynamics - perhaps a little 'tinny' for some. Sound breaks up a little once you get to a low G and beyond. Thanks again for the ID.

Resembles a Humes & Berg Pixie Mute. Wouldn't be for use with a plunger, would it?

Does it stick out past the bell?

One of the reasons I asked the question was because I wondered if it was a pixie. It sticks out a little past the belll.
